Pomegranates For Your Health



One of the most distinctively nutritious, exotically luscious yet sacred is the pomegranates. Since centuries ago, it’s known for its medicinal and food enhancing purposes. However, pomegranates was initially famous in the middle eastern countries and can be considered as holistic in certain cultures, religion and countries. The healthy benefits of pomegranates are often dictated in Jewish fairy tales and middle eastern folklore stories. It even made a ground in Indian medication technique, the Ayurvedic.

If you ever had the chance to examine this exotic fruit with plethora of stories to tell, you can see how unique and brilliantly colored the fruit is. Only the seeds of pomegranates are edible. In the ancient times, the skin and bark of the fruit was used for numerous medicinal purposes. It’s definitely a great addition to many exotic cuisines as well. In the Middle East, a type of syrup which originated from pomegranates is widely used for drinks, dessert extracts and juices as such.

So what are the benefits of pomegranates for our health?

Since it’s renowned for its many health benefits since centuries ago, of course there’s quite a list of it. It is a fruit that is high in fiber and Vitamin C, as well as Niacin, Potassium, polyphenol (which acts an antioxidant agent), Vitamin B5, Vitamin B6 and many other healthful and helpful advantages. Certain studies even showed that the amount of antioxidant that exists in pomegranate concentrate is more likely to be three times of those contained in green tea or red wine.

Polyphenols, which is a natural chemical nutrients that subsist in pomegranates do not only provide boost and protection from free-radicals for our skin alone but also help us from getting all kinds of different diseases including cancer. It also helps in suppressing few deteriorating health condition to worsen such as atherosclerosis (by lowering high blood cholesterol levels). Apart from that, preliminary laboratory studies and researches also showed that pomegranate extracts are reliable to reduce oxidative stress that would lead to lower the risk of heart and cardiovascular diseases.

So, there’s more than enough reason for you to start consuming pomegranates and you can start by varying your homemade meals. Pomegranate seeds are great addition to your salad dressing and definitely can brighten up your meal a little more than usual.
